The Orcades is a wooden hull cruising vessel built in 1973 and fitted out to an exceptionally high standard. Powered by diesel engine, it has a cruising speed of 8.5 knots and a top speed of 10 to 12. It can berth at a quayside and has the advantage of a 5 meter RIB to transfer passengers ashore in shallow water.


Upper Deck

The Orcades offers comfortable accommodation with a spacious lounge complete with table and TV; an open plan dining area off a fully equipped galley with hob, oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. Outside there is a covered deck with patio table and chairs for alfresco dining. All round the boat is a secure covered walking area from which to enjoy sight-seeing, fishing and water sports.

For 5-6 guests, one competent guest required to assist with light deck duties whilst mooring the boat.

Above deck, in addition to storage for the RIB and open deck and storage area, is ample seating space with table where guests can relax and enjoy sight-seeing and drinks.

Charter Capability

The Orcades is available for private charter around Scotland’s west coast, the Hebrides and canals, for families or groups of friends. Charters could include the following options:

  • Cruise breaks with over-night stays
  • Day charters
  • Evening/night charters
  • Corporate entertaining


Orcades was rebuilt as a private yacht in Stormness in 1997 and in 2013 completely refurbished by current owner. :
